Zinta Aistars, founder and editor-in-chief of The Smoking Poet, is the published author of three books. Zinta is living out her dream on a farm called Z Acres near Hopkins, Michigan, and working as a full-time freelance editor and writer for her own business, Z Word, LLC. She is a contributing writer to Southwest Michigan's Second Wave and Rapid Growth. Her work also appears on many ezines and print publications. Zinta broadcasts many of her southwest Michigan author interviews on the Arts and More program on WMUK 102.1 FM, Kalamazoo's NPR affiliate.

Stefano Cagnato is a senior at Kalamazoo College and an intern at The Smoking Poet. He will be the fiction and nonfiction editor for our upcoming Summer 2013 issue. Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Stefano is interested in fiction and screenwriting. His poems have been published in several magazines and his novella is in the final stages of revision. Stefano enjoys improv comedy and film.

Joannie Stangeland’s poetry book, Into the Rumored Spring, is available from Ravenna Press. Joannie is also the author of two poetry chapbooks—A Steady Longing for Flight, which won the Floating Bridge Press chapbook award, and Weathered Steps from Rose Alley Press. Joannie has been a Jack Straw Writer and has taught classes at Richard Hugo House in Seattle, and her poems have appeared in numerous journals and on Seattle-area buses.

Tim Bazzett is a book reviewer for The Smoking Poet. Born in Charlotte, Michigan, Tim grew up in Reed City. He earned degrees from Ferris State, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan Universities and taught English for five years at Monroe County Community College. After eight years in the U.S. Army, Tim worked for twenty-one years as a Russian linguist and intelligence analyst at the National Security Agency. In 2001, he retired and returned to his home town where he began writing. He has published five books. His latest is a memoir, Booklover: A One-Year Journal of Reading, Reflecting & Remembering. Tim is married with three grown children and five grandchildren.
